The Houston Police Department (HPD) was established by the citizens of Houston to serve and protect the community. Its primary mission is to enhance the quality of life in the city by collaboratively enforcing laws, maintaining peace, minimizing fear, and ensuring a safe environment within the bounds of the U.S. Constitution.

HPD places significant emphasis on fostering strong community relationships through relational policing and promoting transparency. The department has adopted advanced technologies and innovative strategies aimed at crime reduction, accountability, and improved communication with the public.

In alignment with its goals of enhancing safety and community engagement, HPD has developed the HoustonPD mobile application. This free tool provides users with access to critical information and resources to facilitate interactions with the department.
